TÜRKİYE AND INDIA IN THE GLOBAL FRANCHISING WORLD: NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND TRENDS

On October 8, 2024, a webinar titled “Global Franchising Trends and Opportunities” was organized by the UFRAD Franchise Association, discussing the current global trends and growth strategies in the franchise sector. The event featured speeches from Mr. Gürkan Donat, a member of the UFRAD Board of Directors, and Mr. Gaurav Marya, President of the Indian Small Businesses and Franchise Association (ISFA), addressing important issues related to the international franchising world.

Mr. Gaurav Marya, President of ISFA, highlighted the rapid growth of the franchise sector in India. He noted that India’s large population and burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem present significant opportunities for franchise brands. Mr. Marya emphasized that small and medium-sized enterprises are increasingly adopting the franchise model in India, asserting that Turkish brands also have substantial potential in this market. He added that Turkish brands could expand in India through master franchise agreements and collaborate with local entrepreneurs to reach a broader audience.

Mr. Gürkan Donat drew attention to the strong and dynamic structure of the franchise sector in Türkiye, stating that Turkish brands are increasingly making their presence felt in international markets. He referred to Türkiye’s success in expanding into European, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets, emphasizing that one of the key factors behind this success is the ability of local brands to comply with global standards.

Mr. Gürkan Donat reiterated the strength and dynamism of Türkiye’s franchise sector, noting that Turkish brands are increasingly represented in international markets. He stated that the success of Turkish franchise brands, particularly in the restaurant, café, and service sectors, provides a significant advantage for their expansion abroad. Furthermore, he emphasized the necessity for Turkish brands to invest in new business models and closely monitor international compliance processes to enhance global recognition and growth.
